The F.R.E.E. Program: Fall Risk Evaluation & Education

What is the F.R.E.E. Program?

The F.R.E.E. Program offers an objective fall risk evaluation for seniors, providing peace of mind and actionable insights. Our two-step process is designed to be quick, easy, and effective.

  1. Individual Resident Evaluation: Using an advanced assessment tool, each resident undergoes a brief evaluation that takes only a few minutes.

  2. Detailed Results: After the evaluation, we provide a comprehensive Fall Risk Report Card. This report includes detailed insights into the resident's balance performance and can be shared with their primary care physician or physical therapist for further intervention if needed.

Why Fall Prevention Matters

Falls among seniors are a significant public health concern, with serious consequences:

  • High Incidence: Approximately 14 million falls are reported each year among older adults in the United States alone, and 1 in 4 older adults reports falling each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

  • Injury and Hospitalization: Falls are the leading cause of injury and injury-related death among seniors. Each year, about 2.8 million older adults are treated in emergency departments for fall injuries, as referenced in this study.

  • Long-Term Impact: Falls can lead to severe health issues, including hip fractures, head injuries, and broken bones. These injuries often result in decreased mobility, loss of independence, and a decline in overall health.

  • Economic Burden: A 2018 study estimated the direct medical cost of falls and fall related injuries be over $50 billion annually in the U.S. This includes hospitalizations, emergency department visits, and the long-term care often required following serious fall-related injuries.
